With the Continuum series, the Hungarian brand Kolink finally leaves the field of budget power supplies and presents a high-quality power supply for a fair price. From now on, Kolink also wants to convince gamers with several (heavily) overclocked graphics cards as well as operators of rendering platforms and workstations with quality and value for money. With high-end models with more than 1,000 watts nominal power and 80 plus platinum efficiency, Kolink is now in no way inferior to the better-known brands in Germany.
The Kolink Continuum 80 Plus Platinum at a glance:
- power supply with enormously strong 100-A singlerail
- High efficiency thanks to 80Plus Platinum certificate
- Quiet 140mm fan
- Fully modular cable management with flat cables
- Six 6 + 2-pin PCIe connectors for graphics cards
High-end technology for power packs of the upper class
For such performance Kolink relies on upper-class technology: While a double-forward circuit is used in the primary area, the manufacturer relies on DC-DC technology with independent voltage regulation in the secondary area. This benefits both the efficiency and the precision of the power supply, especially with asymmetric load. Thus, the Continuum power supply with the total nominal power may be loaded on the + 12 volt rail if required. Particularly in systems with several main processors and graphics cards, very different load conditions are commonplace - good that Kolink has designed the new top series from the outset to extreme scenarios.
Permanent operation of such high-performance hardware is an expensive pleasure anyway, since electricity costs are proportional to the power consumption of the components. With the Kolink Continuum power supply, the additional costs compared to standard systems can be reduced somewhat: The particularly high efficiency meets the requirements of 80 Plus Platinum and thus exceeds 92/90/89 percent at 50/20/100 percent load (at 115 volts input voltage ). Efficiency continues to increase in the European 230-volt grid. Therefore, compared to simpler power supplies with gold certification, the Kolink Continuum saves a good 20 watts after all. In addition, the waste heat is minimized, which benefits the cooling and extends the life.
Lush connection variety and all protection circuits
Kolink chooses quality components, only 105-degree electrics of Japanese brands are installed. The name of the Continuum series stands for lasting and trouble-free operation. The necessary air flow for cooling is provided by a particularly slow rotating 140 mm fan with golf ball surfaces and a particularly durable double ball bearing. Kolink's entry into the high-end segment can not only convince with voltage quality, but also with particularly low operating noise and good cooling. The manufacturer's warranty of five years corresponds to the current standard of the upper class.
A clear highlight of the Kolink Continuum C1050PL is the gigantic equipment with connections: In addition to the 20 + 4-pin ATX connector for the board can each have a 4 + 4-pin and an 8-pin 12V EPS connector up to supply two high-processors. For the graphics cards, there are six six + 2-pin PCIe connectors on three cable harnesses. Even render setups with six middle-class GPUs can be operated without adapter-craft solutions. The other components are supplied with eight SATA and four-pin Molex connectors. This allows each power supply of the new Continuum series permanently perform special services. A successful entry into the market for high-end power supplies! Note:
For the benefit of the environment, the manufacturer dispenses with the supply of a power cord for the mains connection.
