Thus, HDDs get a noble aluminum dwelling with steel base and aluminum front door, which convinces not only by optics and haptics. Also, the drive change is very simple vonstatten. For this purpose, the front flap is simply opened and the bays are provided in hot-swap manner with the appropriate plates. The slots are installed horizontally, the drives are ejected via a handy printing mechanism and below is a control panel with on / off button.

The status LEDs are located at the top and show, in addition to the power-on state, blue light for each hard disk inserted as well as red light when one of the data media is being accessed. An active cooling of the drives is done by two 60 mm fans. The connection to the PC is ensured via a fast USB 3.0 interface or via eSATA with up to 6Gbps data transfer rate.

The power supply takes place independently of this with the included power cable. The TS431U V2 is compatible with many operating systems, from Microsoft Windows through Max OS to Linux. However, it should be noted that not all operating systems can cope with data carriers with a capacity of 3 TB or more, so that correspondingly smaller drives may have to be selected.

In addition, u. Not all individual HDDs installed may be detected by the computer when the external 4-bay chassis is connected to the PC via eSATA. This is the case if the motherboard does not have an integrated SATA port multiplier. In this case, however, the operation with all drives via USB is still possible.
